THE ESSENCE OF ECHO
For NØRDIC FORMS by MENZINO, Eela was invited to interpret Season V – Echo. Inspired by the transition from late autumn into early winter, her two hand-painted creations reflect the quiet dialogue between landscape, memory, and light.
Drawing from her Nordic heritage while influenced by the dramatic scenery of southern France, Laitinen explores nature as both a physical place and an emotional experience. Through delicate layers, symbolic forms, and luminous colour, the works capture moments of stillness where the changing season becomes an echo of personal reflection, inviting viewers to discover beauty in transition and the enduring presence of nature.
INTRODUCTION TO EELA
Eela Laitinen is a Finnish artist based in the Occitanie region of France, where she has lived since 2014. Deeply inspired by the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean Sea, and the surrounding natural landscapes, her work explores the relationship between memory, emotion, and place.
Working across painting, drawing, and photography, Laitinen creates poetic landscapes where nature and imagination become inseparable. Her compositions transform personal experiences into visual narratives, inviting viewers into worlds shaped by atmosphere, symbolism, and quiet mystery. Alongside her artistic practice, she collaborates with cultural organisations across France through exhibitions, workshops, and site-specific projects that celebrate creativity and human connection.
THE CREATIONS
Inspired by the frozen Baltic Sea and the Helsinki archipelago, Blue Silence explores the stillness that emerges when winter transforms the landscape. Light, movement, and silence coexist, inviting the viewer to discover new perspectives within the calm.
Kuulas kuura captures the quiet transition from autumn to winter, where mist, frost, and delicate Nordic light transform the landscape. Through soft colours and symbolic forms, the work reflects the beauty of stillness and the anticipation of the season ahead.
